Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

SPIDER Festival (2016), Ljubljana, Slovenia

The erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognised feeling.

– Audre Lorde, The Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power.

Sebastian’s work is a visual poetics of such erotics; utilised as an anarcho-queer, feminist technology to dismantle narratives of heteronormativity, patriarchy and capitalism by illuminating our spiritual, sexual & animal selves while centring a non-binary subjectivity. This is achieved via emotive & esoteric methodologies such as contemporary chaos magic, eroticism, ritual and gender fuckery.

Sebastian creates across disciplines, specialising in time-based mediums (moving image, performance, noise, installation & curating) exploring ideas of becoming, transformation/transition, animalism, memento mori, queerness, longing and desire.

Through curating, repetitious tropes, multiplicity, appropriation and acts of duration, their work attempts to interrupt historic binary relations and create new narratives and ways of being in the world. Sebastian firmly believes that queerness is not and can never be an identity. Rather that it is experienced as a current, or imperative moving through and between bodies – an inter-subjective process of becoming. They state: We are more than our bodies, we are relations in time & space.

This thinking lies at the heart of their practice and nourishes a critical framework while insisting upon collaboration; giving voice and space to “unexpressed or unrecognised feeling”.
