Although permanently faced with the absurdity of the reality, humans always think and label everything. Tending to keep themselves in their comfort zones, human beings prefer avoiding unknown, in-habitual, dangerous experiences. Having the above in mind, Mexican performance artist Rocío Boliver is inviting performance artists of various ages to a week-long workshop in Kaunas. She suggests to stop the thinking and perform.
The teaching method proposed by Rocío Boliver is an experiential one. Here the participants will be subject to experiences of taste, touch, movement and others that are not common. The leitmotif of Rocio’s method is exposure: to new feelings, concepts, codes, thought structures, forms of behavior, social and personal reprimands, censorship; exposure to ridicule, fear, exhibition, mockery, pain, discomfort. Moving out and away from the comfort zone, participants of the workshop are opening yet another door.
Part of the workshop will be critical analysis and discussion on the actions and exercises performed.
The workshop is taking place from 3rd to 7th of September in Kaunas, Lithuania. The final presentation will take place during the CREATurE Live Art performance art festival on the 7th of September. Each participant is expected to take part throughout the entire duration of the workshop.
The workshop will take place daily from 17.00 to 21.00 hrs. The location will be announced to participants.
